According to the Hubble Space Telescope Deep field Survey, there are about 80-120 billion galaxies in the visible universe.  Outside the visible range of even the HST, there are estimated, given the distribution of known galaxies, to be perhaps 10 times more than that outside the range of even our most sophisticated deep space detection equipment.
