Our Sun has converted about .00008 of its mass into light in about 4 Billion Years.  The fact that the stars convert mass to light doesn't have any significant cosmological effect compared to the total masses of all the stars in the universe which would be a factor of 1/.00008 = 12,000 times greater.  The amount of mass lost by conversion into starlight is not significant.
